Illusion Connect Hersey Character Guide

Hersey is the next partner we’ll get to know today, and she is one of my all-time favorites. She is an anti-Sorcerer unit that has a very good kit, which is also straightforward. Hersey can adjust to any team, and until recently she was the kryptonite to the popular all-Sorc teams.

Nowadays she’s still a strong unit that can pack a punch and bring a little bit (actually not just a little) of single target damage wherever is needed. Hersey is fairly easy to unlock and upgrade since she’s a featured character in most banners.

In this article, you can find everything you need to know about Hersey, as well as which equipment would be best for her. So without further ado, let’s check it out!

The Best Equipment for Hersey

WeaponArmorBootsAccessory

In my opinion, this is the best equipment for Hersey in Illusion Connect. As a general rule of thumb, I tend to favor a character’s original equipment (the one that appears in their non-skin splash art) over alternatives. That’s the equipment I maxed for Hersey first, but with the addition of UR gear, she has some pretty viable alternatives.

A good weapon choice for Hersey would be either Nightmare Hunter, Dragonhowl, Butterfly Hunter or Reversed Blade. I prefer Nightmare Hunter. However, in the latest UR gacha a very good UR weapon was added which massively boosts her Unique skill dmg, called Rosy Fright (UR) – I haven’t managed to collect it yet.

For armor, I went with her maid’s dress Distant Memories, but Scarlet Cuirass or Sakura Furisode (UR) are decent too.

For boots, you want either Bloody Dance Boots, Sakura Rain, Scarlet Warboots, or Falling Butterfly from the SSR ones. For UR boots, you can go either Mordred’s Boots (UR) or even Rosy Allure (UR) if you deploy her at a key moment to activate the skill.

The best accessory for her would probably be the new UR gear, Rosy Abstinence (UR), but I haven’t managed to max it out yet. Other options are Bloody Belt (this is what I went for since it’s her original belt), Dream Prism or Swaying Wine Glass. There are many other decent choices, but these are some of my favorites.

Hersey’s lore

If you are interested in reading the lore behind Hersey as a character and how she came to be the way she is, you can check out the story below. It is unlocked by increasing your intimacy level with her.

Hersey has some interesting lines, to say the least. Her bio is also very confusing, which doesn’t help her case. I believe it’s all a matter of translation done poorly, but overall she’s a very interesting and charming partner.

Fun fact: for the longest time people were not sure whether or not Hersey was a male or female. She’s a female!

My tip on when to play her: I believe that you should deploy Hersey when the enemy has already deployed a bunch of units (preferably Sorcerers) so she can really destroy them all with her Passive. It actually deals quite a lot of damage on deployment, and it stacks up if there are multiple Sorcs packed next to each other (because of the Spread Shot).
